{"id":1614,"date":"2023-10-12T20:48:37","date_gmt":"2023-10-12T20:48:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/healthylivingacu.com\/?p=1614"},"modified":"2023-10-12T22:05:09","modified_gmt":"2023-10-12T22:05:09","slug":"my-tips-for-a-healthy-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/healthylivingacu.com\/?p=1614","title":{"rendered":"My Tips for a Healthy Season"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"element core\/paragraphblock\"><div class=\"container\">\n<p>Seasonal challenges:<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"element core\/paragraphblock\"><div class=\"container\">\n<p>Trees are changing and the leaves will soon turn red, orange and yellow.&nbsp; Instead of saying the leaves are lost, I challenge us to see the loss as a \u201cletting go\u201d act for that which doesn&#8217;t serve us.&nbsp; Loss implies suffering but trees need to let their leaves go to pull their energy into their roots until Spring.&nbsp; No need to fall into despair over the loss because it is a necessary cycle of the season.&nbsp; I\u2019m focusing on finding contentment and storing up energy for a cozy winter. Putting myself first to ready my body for the winter is crucial and allowing rest to be ready to stretch my branches into the growth cycle again next Spring!&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"element core\/paragraphblock\"><div class=\"container\">\n<p>I\u2019m making my roasted root veggie soup(recipe included) with my garden surplus calling out to me to make good food!&nbsp; This is the time of year where I pull together my resources to start thinking about what I need to meet my goals and settle into the groove of slowing down.&nbsp; I see the seasonal need to make high nutrient dense foods that are easy to absorb, like stews and soups!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"element core\/paragraphblock\"><div class=\"container\">\n<p>Notes:<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"element core\/paragraphblock\"><div class=\"container\">\n<p>Desire for food\/drink changes: I stay hydrated with room temperature or warm ginger turmeric or lemon grass tea; even when my appetite and thirst changes with the weather shift(sometimes phlegm is obstructive). Cooked foods or congee to keep easily nourished.&nbsp; I wear scarves and hats to protect my neck from the wind for immune strength.&nbsp; My habit is to take GeGenTang and Gui Pi Tang for immune and digestive strength and I slow down.&nbsp; Fall will bring intestinal cleanses so I\u2019m gearing up!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"element core\/paragraphblock\"><div class=\"container\">\n<p>Foods: seasonal squash, zucchini, tomatoes and onions to name a few.&nbsp; Stews, soups and congees. No COLD!&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"element core\/paragraphblock\"><div class=\"container\">\n<p>Sarah\u2019s Root Soup:<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"element core\/listblock\"><div class=\"container\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ing: Roast 3 LRG Carrots, 3 sweet potatoes, 1 butternut squash<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4TBS avocado oil<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4 cloves garlic<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 onion or 2 shallots<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Salt &amp; pepper<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4 cups broth<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tsp cumin and turmeric<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd tsp cinnamon<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tsp curry<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 can coconut creme<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chopped parsley for garnish<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fresh sourdough for dunking<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"element core\/paragraphblock\"><div class=\"container\">\n<p>First I roast the root veggies whole and let cool.&nbsp; I saute the onion and garlic(quick) in oil before adding the remaining ingredients.
